Background
Weil, Gotshal, and Manges is one of the most prestigious law firm with over 1200 lawyers around the world. Main departments of the firm are located in the landmark GM Building in Manhattan, New York. The laptop brand of choice for the firm is Lenovo ThinkPads, which is one of the only few brand of laptops we specialize in. It is also fitting considering that the firm counseled during the acquisition of IBM's global PC business by Lenovo. Generally ThinkPads are considered one of the best business-class laptops.
How we helped
For the firm, we acted as the ThinkPad specialists, supporting in-house and external consultants with the expertise needed to resolve all issues related to ThinkPads. As we were brought in during the upgrade cycle, we were handling and fixing hundreds of new and old laptops daily. That included extensive disk imaging with custom scripts developed by in-house technicians.
Our experience
Although our involvement was short and we were only called in as a 3rd party to assist the contractors/consultants there, we had a very unique and most pleasant experience during that time. From the breathtaking view overlooking the landmark Central Park to getting to watch CBS's The Early Show in real life on most days, the experience was surreal. Not to mention the fact that the flagship all-glass underground Apple Store at the main entrance would be endless enticement for any tech.
The experience of working there is wonderful as well. Never have we seen such a high concentration of brain power (and stress, and the piles of document) in any client we have ever dealt with. And we have experienced New York's professional life, which can be tremendously demanding and rewarding at the same time.
